Frequently Asked Questions

What is Life Coaching, Really?

Life coaching is a supportive, forward-focused process that helps you gain clarity, shift patterns, and move toward the life you want. It’s not about advice or fixing. It’s about deep listening, thoughtful questions, and insights that reconnect you with your own inner wisdom. By seeing things from new perspectives, you become better equipped to find solutions and make aligned decisions.

Which Is Right for You: Coaching or Therapy?

It’s a question that comes up often, and for good reason. Coaching and therapy can feel similar at times, but they have different intentions, boundaries, and ways of supporting you.

Therapy, also called talk therapy or psychotherapy, is a form of professional support designed to help people work through emotional distress and mental health challenges. It’s provided by licensed professionals such as psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, or counselors.

Therapy often focuses on understanding your past — exploring patterns, relationships, or experiences that may be affecting your present. It can be especially helpful if you’re dealing with things like anxiety, depression, trauma, or navigating a crisis. There are many therapeutic approaches, but at its core, therapy is a collaborative process that supports healing, insight, and greater emotional well-being over time.

Life coaching, by contrast, is more present- and future-focused. It’s not about diagnosing or treating mental health conditions. Instead, coaching supports you in creating clarity, shifting patterns, and moving toward the life you want to live. While we may occasionally explore the past when it brings helpful insight or self-compassion, we don’t stay there.

The heart of coaching is about growth — identifying what’s meaningful to you, navigating transitions, and aligning your actions with your values. It can be powerful and even healing, but in a different way than therapy.

In short:

  • Therapy is typically for healing and mental health support.

  • Coaching is typically for growth, clarity, and change, with room for insight and transformation along the way.

Clients I Most Often Work With

I primarily work with women navigating life transitions such as motherhood, midlife changes, identity shifts, or that quiet sense that something needs to evolve.

I'm also passionate about exploring the mindset many women carry around their bodies, and how we can gently shift toward a more loving and appreciative relationship with ourselves. When we begin to accept and care for our bodies with kindness, at any size or shape, it often becomes easier and more enjoyable to move toward a healthy weight, or simply feel more at peace in our own skin. This isn’t about pressure or perfection. It’s about connection, self-compassion, and honouring both body and mind.

Many of my clients are also seeking greater meaning, purpose, joy, and ease in their lives.

While my practice has historically attracted women, I warmly welcome clients of all gender identities, including LGBTQIA2S+ individuals. I often work with themes related to the feminine, but I see those as qualities and energies that exist in everyone, regardless of gender. You are welcome here, just as you are.

I offer a space that is open, supportive, nonjudgmental, and compassionate. It is a place where you can reflect, go deeper, and shift into a new way of thinking and being. If my approach resonates with you and you're ready to explore, grow, and create meaningful change, I would be honoured to connect.

Coaching for the Motherhood Journey

This work can be incredibly supportive at any stage of the motherhood journey, whether you're thinking about becoming a mother, trying to conceive, pregnant, or already in the thick of parenting.

Please note: The immediate postpartum period may not be an ideal time to begin, as those early months are often a blur of adjustment and survival. But once the fog begins to lift, and you feel a desire for space to reflect and reconnect with yourself, that’s often the perfect time to start.

What Working with Me Might Look Like for You

I offer different coaching options based on your unique needs and goals. For the most meaningful transformation, I recommend a 6-month container of support. This includes regularly scheduled sessions along with 24/7 Voxer support. Voxer is a free app where you can confidentially send voice messages or texts anytime, so we can stay connected between sessions when something comes up.

During those six months, we begin with self-awareness and discovery, to help you gain clarity about what you want. We'll be able to identify what might be stopping you or holding you back, whether consciously or unconsciously. From there, we explore new ways of thinking, interrupt old patterns, shift mindsets, and introduce practical tools to support your journey.

The next phase is about implementation and integration, giving you the time and practice needed to weave these changes into your daily life no matter what challenges arise. Often during a six-month period, an unexpected challenging event will come up. Having a coach by your side to navigate those moments and help you stay on course can be invaluable.

Most clients choose online sessions for their ease and flexibility, but I also offer sessions via phone, in person, or out in nature here in North Vancouver.  I refer to these as Walk-in-Talk.

*Because Walk-and-Talk sessions take place outdoors along nature paths they will depend on the weather. Please note that while I do my best to select quiet routes and maintain privacy, complete confidentiality cannot be guaranteed in public spaces.

Each session is a spacious, supportive conversation tailored to whatever is present for you, whether that is a specific challenge, a stuck pattern, reaching a goal, or feelings of overwhelm or disconnection. I will ask thoughtful questions, offer reflections, and gently guide you toward greater clarity, alignment, and meaningful next steps.

You will always leave with something valuable to carry forward, a shift in perspective, a moment of self-compassion, or a clear path for action.

If you have any questions at all, I’d love to hear from you.
